1). The section on ecopreneurship stood out to me the most
because I thought it was extremely innovative. Pairing two relatively new
industries that are quickly gaining support is very unique. The author does a
great job describing the role entrepreneurs can play in setting sustainability
and the environment as a priority. It is surprising to me how well the two
industries can pair up and do so much good for each other.
2). The most confusing part was the three types of
international alliances described in chapter 4. Although the author
differentiates them well and there is a chart that helps to further break it
down, it is somewhat confusing because they are not terms that you hear
everyday. It also has many parts to each alliance including the degree of involvement,
the ease of dissolution, and whether or not it is a legal entity which makes
each one fairly complicated.
3). My first question would be why the author focused so
much on 3M for the innovation section in chapter 3? Their rules do help to
foster a very innovative work environment and they have been very successful,
but why them over other companies such as Apple, Amazon, or Google? My second
question would be how the I-team works even though it is separated from the
larger firm in many ways? Because it is semi-autonomous, it is described as a
small business operating inside of a large business. How does it involve other
parts of the company, but maintain its own freedom?
4). Overall, I did not disagree with anything from these two
chapters. Many of the concepts were a review, and any new information was
explained well.
